Consultation with a Paediatric Sleep & Respiratory Specialist
At Prana, we provide specialist paediatric sleep consultations to help identify and manage a wide range of sleep, breathing and respiratory concerns in children and adolescents. Our consultations are designed to be thorough, supportive and personalised, ensuring families receive clear answers and an appropriate plan of care.
During your appointment, one of our paediatric sleep specialists will take the time to understand your child’s symptoms, sleep patterns, medical history and any concerns you may have. This may include snoring, restless sleep, frequent waking, mouth breathing, daytime tiredness, behavioural concerns, chronic cough, asthma or noisy breathing during sleep.
What We Offer
Comprehensive assessment of your child’s sleep, breathing and respiratory symptoms
Personalised care tailored to your child’s age, symptoms and medical history
Recommendations for further testing, including home sleep studies or oximetry where appropriate
Specialist review of conditions such as snoring, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, insomnia, restless sleep, chronic cough and asthma
Clear explanations, practical advice and personalised treatment recommendations
Consultation With Sleep Experts
If a home sleep study or oximetry test is required, our team will explain the process and organise the most appropriate investigation for your child. Once the results are available, you will have a follow-up consultation with one of our paediatric sleep specialists to review the findings and discuss any necessary treatment or next steps.
If your child has been referred by an external paediatrician, ENT surgeon, respiratory physician or sleep physician, we can also provide the results directly to the referring doctor for ongoing management.
How Our Paediatric Home Sleep Studies Work
We make sleep studies as simple and stress-free as possible for both children and parents. Our home-based process allows your child to sleep in their own bed, creating a more natural and comfortable environment for accurate testing.
Initial consultation
Your child will first have a consultation with one of our paediatric sleep specialists to discuss their symptoms, sleep patterns, breathing concerns and medical history. We will determine whether a home sleep study is appropriate and explain the process in detail.Clinic appointment and setup
On the day of the study, you and your child will attend our clinic where a trained member of our team will fit the monitoring equipment. The equipment is lightweight, child-friendly and non-invasive. We take the time to ensure your child feels comfortable and that parents understand how everything works before returning home.Overnight monitoring at home
Your child then sleeps in their own bed while the equipment records important information throughout the night. Depending on the study, this may include breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, sleep stages, snoring and body movements. No clinical staff are required in your home, allowing your child to sleep in a familiar environment.Equipment return
The following morning, the equipment is returned to our clinic.Specialist analysis
Our experienced paediatric sleep scientists and specialist clinicians analyse the data and prepare a detailed report on your child’s sleep and breathing patterns. Results and follow-up
Within approximately 7 to 10 days, your child’s results will be ready. You will then have a follow-up consultation with one of our paediatric sleep specialists to review the findings, discuss any diagnosis and plan the next steps for treatment or ongoing care.
