Comprehensive Paediatric Sleep Studies in the Comfort of Your Home.
We help kids with sleep disorders improve their quality of life through accurate diagnosis and specialist physician medical care.
At Prana, we specialise in home-based sleep studies for children and adolescents. Rather than spending the night in hospital, your child will attend a brief clinic appointment where our team will apply the monitoring equipment and explain how everything works. You can then return home, allowing your child to sleep in their own bed and familiar environment.
The equipment is returned to the clinic the following day, where the data is analysed by our experienced paediatric sleep scientists and specialist team. This process is designed to be convenient, child-friendly and far less stressful for families than an overnight hospital stay.
What Our Home Sleep Studies Monitor
Our hospital-grade sleep studies can assess a range of important factors during your child’s sleep, including:
Breathing patterns
Oxygen levels
Heart rate
Snoring and noisy breathing
Sleep position and movement
Brain activity and sleep stages
Pauses in breathing or obstructive events
Limb movements
Bruxism
This information helps our team diagnose conditions such as snoring, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, mouth breathing, restless sleep, daytime tiredness and other sleep-related breathing disorders.
Who Refers for a Level-2 Sleep Study?
GPs, ENT surgeons, Paediatricians, Respiratory & Sleep physicians, Paediatric allergist and immunologists, Dentists, Orthodontists & Myofunctional therapists.
Our team will help guide you if you require a GP referral to access medicare rebates.
Personalised, Specialist-Led Care
Every child is different, which is why we tailor each sleep study to your child’s age, symptoms, individual needs and complexity. Our team takes the time to ensure your child feels as relaxed and comfortable as possible throughout the process.
We take the time to ensure you feel supported and aim for uncompromising quality control and precision in data collection.
Before and after the study, you will meet with one of our specialist paediatric sleep doctors to discuss your child’s symptoms, review the results and plan the next steps. If your child has been referred by an external paediatrician, ENT surgeon or sleep physician, we will also provide the results directly to the referring doctor for ongoing care.
In sleep medicine, we know that poor sleep is not just about obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) or mouth breathing. We think about the bigger picture.
We are holistic clinicians and we consider all aspects of a child’s development and growth including the behavioural facets, the psychology of their sleep and other medical sleep issues like circadian rhythm dysfunction, restless sleep disorder, insomnia or central hypersomnia disorders. We focus on what other factors may impact their sleep like asthma and allergies.
